Lesley Yendell was an English artist based in the Penedes, Spain. She worked on various projects around Europe, including ‘Regenerate’ a community based project (Northern Ireland), and performing at the National Review of Live Art (Glasgow) and the City of Women Festival (Slovenia), FEM Meeting (Girona), FEMART Festival (Barcelona) and artist in residence at Bemis Centre for Contemporary Arts (USA). She was a member of the collective Corpologia and of the all-women group Ocells al Cap. She founded and co-ran LAPEK (Penedes), a contemporary art production space, together with Rotnip where they organised numerous events, exhibitions and performance meetings.

‘Her work in drawing, sculpture and performance concentrates on the transformation of quotidian objects and introduces new criteria to value not only their aesthetic effect but also their communicative power. Her works suggests stories and ask questions, while at the same time oscillating between their various realities. There is a genuine melding of different disciplines to create something unique , impossible to pin down, but fresh and exciting and inexplicably beautiful. Every day and mysterious – the pieces are as complex and as simple as the opposites that they contain.
