Aaron Williamson

Aaron Williamson (Derby, England, 1960). His work is informed by his experience of becoming deaf and by a politicised, yet humorous sensibility towards disability. At a University of California San Diego lecture in 1998, Williamson coined the term ‘Deaf Gain’ as a counter-emphasis to ‘hearing loss’.

EDUCATION: D.Phil in Literature from the University of Sussex (1997). Williamson has held Lectureships on BA and MA Fine Art courses in the UK (Dartington College of Arts, Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, Goldsmiths College); and has been a Visiting Lecturer to numerous institutions internationally.
