La Bisbal d'Empordà

This was the first edition of the festival and it took place in the medieval castle in la Bisbal d'Empordà, Girona. The meeting was programmed to coincide with International Women's Day and we invited six women artists to take part. Every year in la Bisbal the local women's group meet to celebrate this day together on a grand scale. This year their theme was immigration and they published a book about the women who had come to la Bisbal in the past as immigrants. We decided to elaborate on the theme and chose the suitcase as a symbol of the traveler, the pilgrim and the immigrant. We asked the artists to bring everything they needed for their performance with them in a suitcase. Each artist made a durational piece of work in a different room in the castle. The public was able to move freely through the spaces.
